How to clean very dirty hands?

After working outside for two days straight, my hands have become VERY dry, and VERY dirty. The dirt seems to be set into my dry skin. Besides using lots and lots of soap, I have tried moisturizing the hands first, and then using soap to clean them, but nothing seems to work. Normally when this happens I don’t mind it, and let it work its way out of my skin. However, I have a job interview tomorrow, and I don’t want my dirty/stained fingers sticking out!

Olive oil, works like a charm.
Just rub it on, wash off with soap and water.
