Does size matter when it comes to custom wheels and tires?

Yes it does. However, before one delves further into the subject, one has to understand the codes of the tires. Tampering with a vehicle tire size, as opposed to customizing the mats floor truck, dash covers and seat covers car, not something to take lightly.

Unfortunately, many people can not make heads or tails of the codes marked on the tires and so I do not know what "P225/50R16 91S" means. Codes tires are very important if you intend to change their vehicle tires. Unlike exchange <a href="http://www.seatcoversunlimited.com/Seat-Covers-p-1-c-248.html"> truck floor mats </ a>, changing tires without the knowledge of what you are doing could cause adverse effects. Here is a breakdown of sample code of tires:

• The "P" means the tire is for passenger cars and mini vans, pickups and SUVs.
• The "225" is far wider than the outer sidewall of the tire of the widest part of your wall when installed inside.
• The "50" is the percentage of sidewall height to width ratio. (In this example, since the width is 225 mm, the height of the sidewall of the tire to the tread is 112.5 mm)
• The "R" refers to how the construction of the tire was manufactured. In this example, "R" means radial.
• "16" is the size of the rim.
• The "91S" is the description service tires. The "91" is the number that rates how much load the tire can handle. (The "91" in this case means that the tire can handle 1356 pounds). The higher the number, the greater the capacity of the tire.
• The "S" is rated speed of the tires. (A "S" speed rating indicates that the tire can safely operate at speeds up to 112 miles per hour. The further down the alphabet, the faster they are safe for the cover.)

So what does all this mean? Usually a car is built for speed will have a width greater with a lower letter of the alphabet (usually W, Y or Z) and a low percentage of the sidewall for optimum handling and leadership. A passenger vehicle, meanwhile, will have an average width and higher percentage of the sidewall of a more luxurious.

Play the tires without the knowledge about the sizes of tires is dangerous. Here are some reasons:

• Odometer and speedometer calibration is based on the height of the tires of a vehicle. Taller tires speedometer read slower than actual speed of the vehicle.
• The newer vehicles have built-in computers that base calculations on the height of the tires of a vehicle. Change the tires may lead to the components of a vehicle malfunction.
• File systems may suffer suspension tires additional stress of high resulting in accelerated wear, natural and / or failure. If you make substantial changes in the height of the tire, update and enhance the vehicle's suspension values.
