I can not connect my power cable to my post battrey side?

I have this terminal is supposed to be connected to a side post battery. But I can get the old out of the cable. If anyone does not how could you please tell me how?

If you are talking about using something like this http://www.liteminder.com/bolt.html stock bolt just goes beyond the terminal cover plastic. Sometimes it helps gently heat the plastic with a hair dryer or heat gun to make it more flexible then pull and twist the bolt through a pair of pliers.
