Options Reserve

Looking for the best park/nature reserve option close to London?

I’m in London for a 10 day vacation and want to take 2 days off to go walking in the outdoors to relax and take pictures. What are the best options? I want somewhere scenic, diverse geography (lakes, hills, woods) and not too inconvenient. Thanks.

Really close to London is Richmond Park a national nature reserve with deer, ancient woodland and lakes. Catch a train from Waterloo to Richmond and then its a 1 mile walk. Walk up Richmond Hill from the station.
There is a surprising amount of good unspoilt open countryside near London and a good public rights of way system too. The Chiltern Hills are lovely. Catch a train from Marylebone to Wendover – they run every 30 minutes (hourly Sundays) and walk up Coombe Hill then to Dunsmore and Little Hampden. You’ll need an Ordnance Survey Landranger Map of the area to find the paths and your way. Sheet 165
