China is even more rare Rare Earth
Asia analysts Green Technology Holdings, Ltd. to explore the situation of rare earths and the impact of change China's export quotas and new directions up.
China's State Council has issued a national guideline to promote sustainable and healthy development of the national industry of the rare earths. China's exports of rare earth minerals and metals in the first four months of this year rose 33% year on year to 18,614 metric tons, as well as cuts of Beijing's drastic rare-earth country's exports. Data provided by Hong Kong, Agency Economic Information suggests that even if the government has promised to crack down on illegal mining and tighten control over supply, its scope in reducing actual exports may be more limited.
In a statement, the Ministry of Commerce announced that iron alloys with more than 10% of rare earth fall under the export quota from Friday. The guide says that the special campaign will be launched to crack down on illegal mining activities and production excessive and greater efforts will be made to combat practices that pollute the environment and ecological damage. The campaign will also target export illegal smuggling of rare earths.
Rare earth minerals are minerals exotic foreign names, such cerium, dysprosium, erbium, europium, gadolinium, holmium, lanthanum, lutetium and neodymium. Rare earth minerals are essential materials used in the manufacture of high technology. Important Articles Rare Earth made include consumer electronics, hybrid car batteries, magnets powerful, guided weapon systems and technologies more renewable energy. China is the country that controls the world market, which is largely due to Western mining rules that make it impossible to compete with China this process may contaminate the environment. The Chinese are believed to own one third of world reserves of these minerals of strategic importance and produce more than 90% of the world production. In addition, China plans to build a reserve of rare strategic reserve lands. This is good news for smart investors already positioned in this thin market sector, but it is worrisome for manufacturers who depend on a reliable and affordable. With prices rising worldwide demand for these vital with the minerals continue to rocket, regardless of quotas for China and guidelines.
Changing China's rare earth mineral policy has been many solutions to the shortage of this vital resource. The Japanese have already set a goal of reducing the amount of rare earth imported into third, with the country now trying to lead the world in the recycling of rare earths. Last year, a diplomatic row between Japan and China led the world's largest supplier of rare earth elements (REE) to suspend exports of rare earth oxides and other metals critical to most individual customer. China, which draws more than 90 percent of rare earths in the world, exported 6,000 tons, or 49.8% of total rare earth to Japan. While recycling is very expensive, the government of Japan has been crucial for the recycling of ERs up and initiated grants and facilitated cooperation among industry. The Japanese Ministry of Trade has contributed one third of a billion dollars in subsidies, that has been used as seed money for some 160 projects worth $ 1.34 billion. That number will increase as the Japanese government is offering another ¥ 8.9 billion in subsidies in the next fiscal year. Japan is also investing heavily in research. Scientists at the University of Tokyo have recent success in the separation of REE neodymium magnets through a new recycling process much cheaper. The Japanese have set a goal of reducing the amount of ER imported by the domestic industry by a third, which is a step in the right direction toward less dependence on minerals from China.
