Nissan 350z Bose stereo system not working, is it worth repairing?

I just bought a 2003 Nissan 350z Touring edition. It came with the factory Bose system. Unfortunately, it isnt working. The only speakers that are working are the front 2 speakers at the base of the doors, The sub behind the seat doesnt fire at all, and of the 2 speakers behind the seat, only 1 makes any sound at all, and you can barely hear anything out of it, even when you set all sound to come from the rear (I didnt know it was on at all until I did this). Since I got the car and it was already not working, I’ve never heard the system. What could be wrong, how much would it cost to fix it (do I have to go to Nissan, or would Best Buy etc. be able to do it?), and does it sound good enough to justify having it repaired? I wouldnt want to spend the money, only to find it sucks and I need to replace it anyway. I listen mostly to R&B, rap on occasion.

Your Bose system uses two amps. One powers the four speakers and the other drives the subwoofer. I would have the head unit checked first, since it’s common to both your problems. A local stereo repair shop should be able to test the unit to verify this is the source of your trouble. The dealer will probably just remove the radio and ship it off for evaluation.

The Bose system doesn’t have overpowering volume, but does sound good. You could check out the sound on a used car lot to see if it’s to your liking.
