They used an assembly line to make them, which meant they were more affordable. There were also more of them available for the same reason. A lot more of them. As in, cars became a regular mode of transportation because of the Model T. Only rich people had a chance to buy cars before, with the Model T middle class folks could buy a car.
So for a lot of people, there weren’t any competitors or previous cars–this was the first one that was available to them!
