What is the best way and easier to clean the chrome wire wheels?
I have an MGB Roadster with 15 "chrome wire wheels MGC also smalll are some specs of rust coming off with a rag, I would stop before it gets worse.
Auto Glym used to make a product that was a strong detergent containing phosphoric acid. The acid would neutralize and remove the rust, while the detergent to clean awa and dirt grease, brake dust etc. It was easy to use, it can be sprayed on or applied with a brush and rub it in and then wash with a hose or jet of lava., therefore oxide and dirt is removed with little effort.It should be noted that the mold will return quickly if the wheels are not protected with a coat of WD 40 or 3 in 1 oil. If this product is no longer available from Auto Glym you should try to wonder wheels are readily available and is probably just as good. This is the best wheel cleaner on market today, but of course, especially for modern alloy wheels, but I think its acid content can be effective in removing rust. If Wonder wheels do not remove the rust that would be an alternative approach to Phase 2. First clean and degrease the wheels by applying a solvent such as oiler Gunk then rinse. Then apply a rust remover in specific water soluble, such as Kurust jelly and rinse again. Protect with WD40 or 3 in 1 oil as wheels before.Chrome wire is good to see when it is in perfect condition, but are difficult to maintain. The ideal answer is to have an extra set of tires and keep wheels wire for the summer, use on dry roads.
