do you have to use a tomtom SD with the tomtom ONE, or can you get a 4 gb and download the DVD maps onto it?

And how do you do that?

Not sure about the One, and not sure about 4GB – check the manual for compatibility.
I have an older model TomTom and I copied my maps and data onto a new SD card and it worked OK. If you connect the TomTom to you PC it registers as a storage card and you can drag and drop files from it. You can also use the TomTom home application to backup your entire TomTom, and I would think you could use this same application to restore onto a different SD card. There’s probably a FAQ about this on TomTom’s website.
