2004 Sunfire Stereo Installation and Data Bus Interface?

Im installing a new aftermarket stereo in my friends 2004 pontiac sunfire and ive read that the safety chimes and bells are ran through the stereo and that swapping the stereo will deactivate these sounds. Will i need to get the metra integration adapter (VT-GMRC-01) or will everything still work with the exception of these door and light sounds??

Yes you will need the mia. I did the same in a 2003 GMC Sierra. If you don’t want the chimes, don’t install it, but it also is part of factory security. The mia is about as expensive as the stereo was that I installed.
