Fast and Simple Tips for Detailing at an Auto Show

Make sure your car is really in top shape before the judges arrive -  it is sometimes an arduous task, but with these fast and easy tips you can ensure that your car will always be looking superb when it matters to the judges, never minding how many people’s hands have been on it. Remember, you must ensure that your car has been properly detailed before the show to make it easier on the day.

Check the windows, they get really dirty quickly when there are many people around. Even breathing when the weather is difficult, can drag your window with streaks or other blemishes resulting in being marked down on overall appearance. Make sure you keep a few towels and a good window cleaning preparation handy and get in there to make the glass really dazzle. This will ensure that the judges get a great first impression of the car.. and first impressions count for a lot.

Use a good chrome cleaner to spot polish all of the chrome on the car. This is a place where you usually pretty quickly see dull spots. A cloth and some good chrome cleaner ensures that chromium remains bright as possible. If you can’t see your reflection in it , clean some more! and ensure that there is no rust on the chrome. This is a small detail that can make a disproportionately big impression. If you ignore such small details, they will probably think you ignore bigger areas as well.

Tires are another important area, you may not see it, but there could be tons of mud caked up into the wheel well and on your tire itself and this can really produce a bad effect. Clean those tires immediately you park at the event, to ensure that they look perfect. This will be done usually only once, and, if done immediately upon arrival, then allows time for other details.

Definitely avoid eating inside the car before the show, and especially during the show. Food always leaves small crumbs usually in very difficult to access and clean spaces.  Dealing with this will be a massive pain in the rear. So make a rule to keep food and drink out of the car, and you will not have to worry about crumbs or food stains making your car present a poor impression. Once again it’s the little details that can tip the scales in your favour with the judges.

You may also want a few brief moments on arrival to quickly repair any dull areas to the wax finish. It is vital that you make sure the whole car is expertly waxed and lustrous. You may also want to take a small portable vacuum cleaner with tools to reach those thin small spaces and eradicate dirt or debris from the entire interior. A good car will get a wonderful reception by just following these simple steps and this could be enough to push your car to the top of the judges list.

Additionally, avoid the temptation to bundle loads of luggage into the trunk.  Regardless of whether it is a few small items or heavyweight tools and equipment, you should never have a loaded trunk on view when you are showing.  The judges may want to see how your trunk looks, and if it is full of stuff, they will not be able to get a good insight into the condition and space.  Keep it clear of clutter or a bare minimum of items to show special capabilities in order to guarantee achievement of maximum results from the judges.
