My team usually boot cd, tryed most things, any1 have tips?
Hi, I have a Dell Dimension 4700, just got it used. I can not get the password and I do not really need to I want to erase the hard drive in any way. So I put the disc, restart and I wait for the "press any key to boot from CD ", I do not get it, it goes right to log on screen. I have entered the settings and made sure that the CD only boots, if not every time, any suggestions?
Have you verified that the boot disk on another machine? Do you know if the CD works really? Try the CD on a different computer. If you boot the CD, change the unit which is known to be operating. After getting the PC to boot from a CD, you may want consider resetting the password of the operating system instead of a immeadiate format / reinstall: http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/ This way you can recover the entire motherboard and device drivers with a capture utility before formatting.
