Is there a nav system available for bmw 330i’s (2006)?

Yes the option is available. There are some caveats. First In order to get Satellite navigation you must purchase it for the vehicle. Expect to pay $1,800 for this option.

Now the downside. The Sat-nav on an E90 (2006-Present) BMW means that it will come with what is called I-Drive. I drive is a very advanced computer control system that integrates navigation, climate, entertainment and the car’s data onto one screen. The general consensus of owners is that they either hate it or love it. Personally, I feel none of the sentiment as I believe all things can be learned and can be mastered in little time.

The system is somewhat finicky to use because it uses a click-wheel cum directional button to select the menu that you desire. The system takes awhile to learn. Another caveat is the voice used. It is disturbing to the driver and can, at times, be very, very annoying. But I believe it can be turned off. However that does not negate the fact that it can be problematic. BMW’s are a very pure experience and such extraneous noise can be detrimental to the “ultimate driving experience.”

Beyond all that the sat-nav program is very, very advanced. It is accurate to less than 3 meters and can locate you anywhere in US and Canada. It also comes with BMW assist, the BMW equivalent of On-Star, albeit much superior because it also acts as a concierge who can reserve dinner tables, buy tickets and book airline tickets (if you pay fort his service), beyond even that the BMW assist with sat-nav allows BMW to pinpoint your location to provide emergency services much, much faster than normal.

I would recommend this option if you get lost frequently or want the added safety. It is a top-notch program that has been refined over the years. Very, very good, just like most BMWs. Good Luck.
