What is the best way to remove the old bearing grease?

It is best to use a parts cleaning solution. Bearings can cause problems. I can use mineral spirits in my parts washer. You can remove without any solvent, but can not really inspect closely that way. At the centers, wipe with paper towels. The very paths that you can clean the grease and use of the new grease to remove the old.
