Where is the temperature sensor in an auto/truck located that it is not affected by heat from engine or ground?

Where is the sensor located so radiant heat from the sun or heat from the engine does not affect it?
The OUTSIDE temperature sensor that an auto/truck has………..

The temperature thermistor is located usually in the vehicles front grill area! And it does not begin to function properly until the vehicle is driven and ambient air begins to flow through the thermistor head!
